ABSTRACT
The US Dollar (USD) exchange rate and gold prices are two important indicators in the global economy that share a close relationship. Fluctuations in the dollar's exchange rate often influence the movement of gold prices as an investment instrument and a safe-haven asset. This study aims to analyze the relationship between the dollar exchange rate and gold prices, as well as the factors affecting changes in both variables. The research method employed is library research with a descriptive qualitative approach through the analysis of various scientific journals, financial institution reports, and economic literature. The findings show that the relationship between the dollar exchange rate and gold prices tends to be negative (an inverse relationship), where a strengthening US dollar is typically followed by a decline in global gold prices, while a weakening dollar drives gold prices upward. This relationship is also influenced by inflation, interest rates, the Federal Reserve's monetary policy, geopolitical conditions, as well as global gold demand and supply. The findings imply that investors need to pay close attention to dollar exchange rate developments as a primary indicator when determining gold investment strategies.
